Tessa: On the Value of Competence and Training
Beliefs and Values
Human nature is based on the premise that every behaviour has a functional purpose, though it may not always feel that way. Tessa sees that humans are hardwired to protect themselves, enabling them to create elaborate defense mechanisms. Often times, people seek counselling due to behaviour that doesn’t feel functional. These behaviours can create stress and discomfort, however, they did serve the purpose of defending you from real or perceived threats.
Tessa values the support her clients are given throughout their journey, and hopes to help them understand the feelings that don’t feel natural, and bring them closer to seeing their feelings ‘once functional’ purpose. She wants all her clients to look at themselves and their habits with love and without judgment.
