Nadia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Religious Studies, and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. She is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Nadia is empathetic, compassionate, and warm in her Client-Centered approach. In her spare time, Nadia enjoys spending quality time with her family, watching wildlife, reading, and learning about different worldly topics.
Beliefs and Values
Distress can manifest due to a number of reasons, including, feeling unaccepted in society, negative thought patterns, strained relationships, low self-esteem, and hurtful past experiences. Nadia appreciates the amount of courage it can take to seek help, and she focuses on providing support and encouragement in a safe therapeutic space. Nadia believes that everyone has the power to fulfill their goals and overcome challenging obstacles. She is passionate about helping individuals gain skills to create meaningful life changes, while feeling a renewed sense of hope and empowerment. Nadia uses a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, but will tailor her approach according to individual needs and personality.
Areas of Interest and Knowledge
Nadia works with adults and seniors and is particularly knowledgeable about concerns related to drug and alcohol addiction, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and significant trauma. Nadia has experience counselling individuals from varying cultures and spiritualities and keeps up to date on her understanding of human behaviour by participating in relevant training and workshops.
