Registered Provisional Psychologist
Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts Honors Degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba, and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Gonzaga University. She is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and gained experience at the Calgary Counselling Centre working with clients from all life circumstances, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ethnicities. In her free time, Katie loves spending time with her husband and two daughters, reading, and travelling.
Areas of Interest and Knowledge
Katie enjoys working with adults to provide counselling for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationships issues and boundaries, stress, anger management, postpartum concerns, trauma, self-esteem, and more. Katie considers herself a lifelong learner and welcomes continuing education and training opportunities in order to best serve her clients.
Beliefs and Values
Katie’s personal and professional life experiences have allowed her to develop a deep appreciation and empathy for a wide variety of challenges that many individuals face everyday. She aspires to create a safe space in which clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences in order to feel heard, understood and accepted. Katie believes that this is necessary in order to work towards meaningful and lasting change.
The approaches Katie utilizes in her work include Client-Centered, Narrative, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Katie understands and respects the strength it takes to ask for help when dealing with life’s challenges and loves working with clients to help them find joy, peace of mind and hope.
