Kate holds of Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology. She has worked and volunteered in the field of human services for the past seven years. Her volunteer experience with the Women’s Centre of Calgary sparked her interest in providing non-judgmental meaningful supports to others.
Areas of Interest and Knowledge
Kate is passionate about working with clients focusing on women’s health, gender and identity, sexuality, body positivity, health psychology, and general mental health concerns. Kate is highly interested in working with cis-gender women, trans-gender women, non-binary individuals, and other gender non-conforming individuals. Kate is kink-aware and poly-aware, though she only sees clients on a one-on-one basis and does not offer relationship counselling.
Kate draws from several approaches based on the client’s needs and presenting concerns, including: Internal Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness Modalities.

Kate believes that the therapeutic space should provide safety and respect the vulnerability an individual courageously brings to each session. Kate aims to focus on meeting individuals where they are at, and believes that through therapeutic support an individual can heal themselves.

Kink–Friendly refers to a practitioner who is open and non-judgemental of kink concepts and lifestyles, with general knowledge only.
Kink-Aware refers to a practitioner who has specific knowledge of kink concepts and lifestyles, has researched and educated themselves in these areas. May have some previous experience providing professional services to individuals with these interests.
Kink-Knowledgeable refers to a practitioner who has previously provided professional services to multiple individuals in the lifestyle. They are usually very experienced in kink concepts and lifestyle.
What’s the difference between poly–friendly and poly-aware and poly-knowledgeable?
Poly-Friendly refers to a practitioner who is open and non-judgmental of polyamorous concepts and relationship, with general knowledge only.
Poly-Aware refers to a practitioner who has specific knowledge of polyamorous concepts and relationships, who has researched and educated themselves in these areas. May have some previous experience providing professional services to individuals who identify as ethically non-monogamous.
Poly-Knowledgeable refers to a practitioner who has previously provided professional services to multiple individuals in the polyamorous relationships. They are usually very experienced in polyamorous concepts and relationships.
