Is your child falling behind in school? Maybe they are unmotivated, bored, or they resist going to school. We can work with you and your family to find answers to your concerns.
Psychological or psycho-educational assessments can help you answer questions about your child or your teen. Assessments can provide information about what is impacting your child’s academics or overall psychological well-being. It may provide you with details about their learning, processing, and emotional and behavioural profile. It can help you develop insights into your child’s needs, or provide new strategies and directions in different areas of life.
The assessment process varies for everyone. An assessment may include standardized tests (e.g., tests of intelligence or academic achievement), observations, rating scales, detailed history, consultation and interviews.
Testing and Assessments at Serenity Now Wellness may identify:
- Learning disorders
- Attention and behaviour-related disorders (e.g., ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder)
- Executive functioning and self-regulation deficits
- Intellectual disabilities
- Mood and anxiety disorders
Psychological Assessments and Testing can also provide a profile of your child’s individual strengths and areas of weakness that we can use to collaboratively develop a plan to succeed in the classroom and in their everyday life.
Psychological testing is necessary to obtain supports and resources at school and in the community. It may also identify individuals who may be eligible for certain educational placements (e.g., gifted and talented education; private schools), funding, or government benefits (e.g., AISH, PDD). With this information, we can also consult with your school when developing individual program plans (IPPs) and recommend specific strategies for the classroom that will help your child succeed.
If you feel that an assessment or testing may benefit your child, we ask that you meet with us to explore the assessment process further. Together, we can work together to help your family reach their potential. For more information, you can connect with Andrea Stelnicki.
