About Alex

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Master of Counselling degree. Alex enjoys volunteering with Alberta Health Services’ Grief Support Program as well as assisting new graduate students in the Master of Counselling program at City University (Canada). In his spare time, Alex is an avid marathon runner, scuba diver, and mindfulness meditation practitioner.

Beliefs and Values

Alex believes that each individual has the power and strength to overcome their challenges – regardless of what they may be. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a Client-Centered approach, Alex believes people can live a fulfilling and emotionally healthy life. Alex believes each person has a unique set of needs and likes working with clients from diverse backgrounds to help them achieve their goals and ambitions.

Areas of Interest and Knowledge

Alex enjoys working with individuals and couples who are going through various life challenges and changes. Although Alex enjoys working with individuals with diverse concerns, Alex is particularly passionate about working with people struggling with Grief and Loss, Men’s Health issues, Personal Relationship issues, Anxiety, Depression, and managing Stress.

Alex’s background in Grief and Loss started with volunteering at Alberta Health Services’ Grief Support Program and Hospice Calgary. Alex works with adults struggling with the sudden, shocking, or predictable death of a life partner, family member, colleague, friend, and/or pet. Alex believes each person’s grief is truly unique and requires a strong level of compassion. Alex’s approach to bereavement counselling includes gaining a deeper understanding of the loss; as well as providing coping tools and strategies to help the bereaved.

Alex also enjoys working with individuals and/or couples struggling with Men’s Health issues, Personal Relationship issues, Anxiety, Depression, and Stress. If there is a Men’s Health issue or Personal Relationship issue you want to discuss, don’t be shy! Alex can provide you with a safe and healthy environment to bring up any topic you want, as well as figure out some strategies to help you move forward. Alex can also help you with various coping skills to help manage your Anxiety, Depression, and Stress.
